Born in 1955, Jeff Poilé was the life partner of Pacific McGeorge law professor Larry Levine. Jeff passed away in 1992 from AIDS. Born and raised in Stockton, Jeff graduated with high honors from U.C. Berkeley. After graduating from college he received a Fulbright Scholarship to the American University in Cairo. Jeff was fluent in French and Arabic and was pursuing a Masters Degree in International Relations from CSUS at the time of his death. Jeff was also a spectacular cook and wickedly funny.

Larry’s commitment to his life partner and his dedication to civil rights has led him to create and develop the Pacific McGeorge Poilé GLBT Scholarship.

The Poilé GLBT scholarship is part of Pacific McGeorge’s commitment to using the rule of law to bring about a more just society. Created in 2003, the Poilé GLBT Scholarship is conferred yearly to continuing Pacific McGeorge students who are committed to using their legal education to further the civil rights of the GLBT community. Pacific McGeorge is proud to be one of a handful of law schools that have a scholarship earmarked for the betterment of the GLBT community.
